The Oreus Jacket and Vest are the culmination of a five-year design journey aimed at creating what Mountain Equipment considers the finest mid-weight synthetic garments available today. Faced with the limitations of existing synthetic fills, the team pioneered a new approach—interlacing fibres with heat-reflective fabric technology. This innovation, now patent pending and exclusive to Mountain Equipment, has given rise to Aetherm™ Precision Insulation: a material that delivers superior warmth, greater breathability, and enhanced compressibility for its weight class.

Prototypes of the Oreus have already seen extensive use in challenging environments from the Karakoram to Patagonia and the Alps. These garments have received enthusiastic feedback from Mountain Equipment’s athlete team, many of whom now choose these products over lightweight down thanks to their warmth, practical features, and better performance in harsh weather.
