Description

Mountain Equipment's Kryos Women's Jacket is the optimum combination of warmth, protection, and minimal weight, purpose built for winter alpine climbing and super alpinism in the greater ranges. Informed by feedback from some of the world's best alpinists, it was designed to make the cut on the hardest routes at 6,000 and 7,000 m and the biggest modern alpine winter lines, whilst offering a much greater level of warmth and protection than anything that came before.

The key to this lies in the development of Firestorm construction: a Drilite Loft drop outer shell that radically reduces heat loss whilst offering a much greater level of weather protection, vital on the most committing routes. Underneath lies a hybrid layout of stitch-through and pleated baffles optimised to give the absolute maximum loft and warmth from 234 g of goose down. Up to 20% greater warmth with up to 20% lower weight, with far lower water and wind ingress.

The Kryos has been used on Paul Ramsden and Tim Miller's Piolet d'Or winning first ascent of Jugal Spire, Tom Livingstone and Matt Glenn's first ascent of the North East Pillar of Tengkangpoche, Freja Shannon's multiple hard first ascents in Arctic Norway, and Uisdean Hawthorn's Piolet d'Or winning first ascent on Mount Robson's Emperor Face.

Technology

Down 800 Down 800
Goose down is the finest insulating material available, offering outstanding insulation, loft, softness, and warmth-to-weight ratio. Mountain Equipment's 800 fill power goose down is standard issue for many of the world's hardest climbs and record-breaking expeditions.
Firestorm Firestorm
Firestorm construction harnesses the advantages of stitch-through construction with the protection offered by a completely separate outer fabric that greatly increases weather resistance and warmth. Resulting from a huge R&D project and thoroughly expedition tested, it is used only in Mountain Equipment's very highest performing down products.
Drilite Loft Drilite Loft
Drilite Loft is Mountain Equipment's exclusive range of highly water-repellent fabrics used in insulated clothing and equipment. With a water-repellent coating that offers genuine water resistance (1500 mm hydrostatic head), DRILITE Loft fabrics remain highly water resistant throughout the lifetime of the product.
Down Codex Down Codex
Mountain Equipment's Down Codex programme has set the benchmark for down sourcing in the outdoor industry since 2009. All down is RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified, and using a unique barcode in each product you can track the exact quality of the down you buy.
Fair Wear Foundation Fair Wear Foundation
Mountain Equipment is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, an independent, non-profit organisation that works with brands and factories to improve working conditions for garment workers.
