The Oreus Jacket represents the culmination of a five-year innovation project aimed at producing what Mountain Equipment considers the finest mid-weight synthetic garment currently available. Frustrated by the limitations of existing synthetic insulation, the team embarked on the development of their own woven fibre solution, utilising heat-reflective fabric technology. Now patent pending and exclusive to Mountain Equipment, Aetherm™ Precision Insulation surpasses anything of comparable weight in warmth, while also excelling in breathability and packability.

The jacket has already been thoroughly proven in the field, with prototypes extensively tested from the Karakoram to Patagonia and across the Alps. It has received outstanding feedback from the Mountain Equipment athlete team, many of whom now opt for this jacket over lightweight down thanks to its exceptional warmth, robust performance, and superior reliability in challenging mountain conditions.

Insulation

• Aetherm™ Precision Insulation provides the cosy warmth and plush feel of down, while maintaining the toughness and weather resistance typical of synthetic fill.
• The insulation uses 100% recycled polyester and incorporates a reflective layer to enhance thermal performance.

Materials

• Both inner and outer fabrics are made from 100% recycled PLASMA 10D, finished with a PFAS-free DWR; this material is exceptionally light and highly breathable.

• The regular fit is carefully tailored to optimise heat retention while ensuring complete freedom of movement.

Hood Configuration

• The fully adjustable Mountain HC Insulated Hood is designed to fit seamlessly over a climbing helmet.

Pocket Configuration

• Two YKK® zipped handwarmer pockets offer easy access to essentials.
• One YKK® zipped chest pocket adds extra storage versatility.
• A large internal drop pocket is ideal for gloves and other gear that needs to stay warm.
• This internal pocket also doubles as a stuff sack and features twin karabiner carry loops.

Centre Front Zip

• The two-way YKK® moulded front zip includes an insulated rear baffle to block heat loss and protect against wind penetration.
• It is designed for easy operation even when wearing gloves.

Cuffs & Sleeves Configuration

• Elasticated cuffs ensure a snug seal around the wrists, maintaining warmth and accommodating gloves with ease.
• Articulated, pre-shaped sleeves support unimpeded movement during active climbs, even when layered.

Waist & Hem Construction

• Dual drawcords at the hem allow for customised adjustment and help trap heat effectively.
