The Tupilak is built to Mountain Equipment's highest specification for winter and alpine climbing on steep ground. It uses 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro with an 80-denier face fabric throughout, which gives the abrasion resistance mixed climbing demands, and weighs 440 g in a size 12. Mountain Equipment says weight-conscious climbers often choose it over lighter shells for the extra durability on remote peaks.

Mountain Equipment states that GORE-TEX Pro 80D fabric is guaranteed to keep you dry. Designed and developed in the UK and manufactured in Ukraine, with main fabric made by W. L. Gore and Associates in China. Hand wash or machine wash at 30 degrees C using liquid detergent or a specialist cleaner.
